"We don't want your jobs, we will create jobs for ourselves with our brain. Give us light! Give us little grants and we will turn Aba to Dubai!". These were the words of Israel Ubah to the Nigerian government.

These manufacturers in Aba are known for manufacturing clothes, clothing accessories and many other things. This photo-documentary is meant to create awareness and publicise the efforts of the struggling local manufacturers whose products experience low patronage by Nigerians. Nigeria is extremely intoxicated with imported commodities which has made her ignore her inner abilities and empowering, boosting and improving on the locally made commodities so that they could be imported commodities from Nigeria for other nations as well.

When asked whether there is any support from the Government, Sunday Igwe who specializes in the manufacturing of female shoes said,"there is zero support from the government. He further lamented, "the materials with which we produce our products are expensive and we produce all these with manual labour. We need sophisticated machines too, we have assorted designs but we don't have machines, and manual labour slows us down. If only government can give us a no-interest loan...".

The recent contributions of the government towards the promotion of the patronage of made in Nigeria products must be commended. But we further urge the Nigerian government to kindly support these manufacturers so that they may meet the quality and standard requirements of some products which will bring about an increased promotion of locally made products in Nigeria.
