Committee Releases White Paper On LAUTECH Crisis

The white paper on the review of the report of the visitation panel over the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology crisis has finally been released.
The Chairman, Technical Committee on the white paper and Chief of Staff to the Oyo State Government, Dr Gbade Ojo who disclosed this to Channels TV, said more than 65 critical recommendations are contained in the white paper.
Dr Ojo said copies have been received and acknowledged by the two visitors to the school, the council and management of the institution.
Giving insight into the content of the new document, the chairman of the committee said the two owner states – Osun and Oyo – remain committed to joint ownership.
He added that a forensic audit of the finance and staff of the institution has become critical as some N417.3m remain unaccounted for.
He further noted that the account of the school was last audited in 2011/2012 leading to a gap in accountability in the affairs of the school.
The committee also noted that the union did not streamline its courses to focus on its mission of a university of technology.
The white paper also recommended that the outstanding payment of N7.2 billion owed by Osun and N1.8 billion owed by Oyo should be settled in the shortest time possible.
