#164 MILLION IS IN THE KITTY OF LAUTECH NOW, SAYS OYO STATE COMMISSIONER FOR EDUCATION.

By : Oyedeji Ahmed ( LMP )

This information is contained in a chat yesterday while engaging the oyo state commissioner for education over the non release of subventions and the insistence of audit report before any payment.

He said; Oyo-State Government is giving 25per cent subventions to all Tertiary Institutions in the state. That also include LAUTECH I.e. 82M x 2= 164M.

But when further asked if #82 million will be the amount the oyo state government will be giving the school per month from January to June or the 25% will only cover a part of the total debt owed by the oyo state government.

He responded; 82 million per month pending the report of external auditor.

It should be note that government is hell bent on the proposed forensic audit as a way to solve the issue of funds permanently. But one could wonder why the audit is raising lot of controversy.

As some believe management or unions are those preventing the audit, others were of different opinion. they believe government is only saying that  to buy more time or to blackmail personalities. Hence, no any forensic audit yet to be carried out.

But, why ? This is because the parties involved are not on same page. The government want to carry out forensic audit without the payment of salaries. The management does not have what it takes to summon the unions while owing them salaries. And unions can only summon for congress when there is money on table. So, who's to be blame ?

While there've been call from government to allow audit to take place , the unions have never seize to demand for the offset of salaries while audit is ongoing. This simply implies that forensic audit can take place if only the unions are not on strike. Or is it possible to audit while staff are on strike ? If yes, then government shouldn't hesitate to summon the management to either Agodi in ibadan or Abeere in Osogbo for the exercise.

Anyway, we've been able to confirm from a reliable source that 164 million is given to LAUTECH this week. We hope Osun state too, will emulate oyo state by paying some amount of money out of the debt being owed.

No doubt, the 164 million being paid by the oyo state government is nothing compared to the debt the state is owing and not even up to the monthly subvention that's suppose to be paid for 6 months by each state which goes for 292 million. But we still need to appreciate the effort unlike the Osun state government with huge debt and without any remorse whatsoever than the mindless statement of incapacitation. What a government ? Indeed, Aregbesola must be a clown.

Till next I write, I indulge you to give maximum support to #fundLAUTECH initiative. With your support and active participation, resumption is certain and very near. In fact, it may be a reality before the end of July.
