BEING THE RESPONSE OF THE OYO STATE COMMISSIONER FOR EDUCATION ON MY RECENT SHORT PIECE, TAGGED, " WHY LAUTECH ? ON  3rd July 2017.

It Reads ;

Are you aware that by NUC ranking, LAUTECH is the second best state university in Nigeria. Are you aware that by Webometric ranking, LAUTECH is the best state university in Nigeria. This current challenges will soon become a thing of the past. Let all hands be on deck and avoid diversionary statements. Don't be befuddled by the activities of the itinerant propagandist, Governments shall do the needful, Management must do the needful by blocking porous accounting, without accountability!

In the same vein, the Osun state Commissioner for education, in person of Kolawole omotunde young, also reacted to a question being put forward to him through a text yesterday ( 4th July 2017 ), after which one of LAUTECH student in IB had helped him to secure a place to pee.

The story goes thus;

There was a traffic issue yesterday in IB due to the heavy rain that fell and led to gridlock. Cars have to go through normal streets in order to get out of the traffic.

Suddenly, the man came down in white dress and sandal around "aromolaran area, behind holy trinity grammar skul.
He walked up to us and said he need a decent place to pee around . Without hesitation, one of us responded that we can offer him a half place to pee.

After that, he said, what am I doing ? Then i responded that, am a student of LAUTECH. He said, wow! *Our school*. Then I quickly asked if he's a member of Alumni but said NO. Later on, he starred and started asking me question about the school, and I told him everything and the inevitable fact.

So, he was like, do you think increase in school fees can solve the issue ? Then I and my friend responded that; if they increase it, people will talk, but when there's nothing like strike and the fee is not too much, we will accept. The fact just remain that we want to resume.

However, from our discussion with the man, especially when comparing LAUTECH with UNiOSUN, we got to ascertain the fact that they want LAUTECH to stand on its own which we said is not possible. Never and ever. Why ? Because we believe the governments has obligation towards the school. LAUTECH has more than enough population compared to UNiOSUN. In LAUTECH, our school fees is between 65k-73k whereby UNIOSUN pays over 100k. More importantly, the population of LAUTECH staff can never be compared to that of UNIOSUN, retirees, amongst others. The more reason why the institution cited second best state university inspite of the current situation.

Below is the question he responded to through a text message yesterday evening ;

*Question*

This is olagoke Usman, the ladokite that you met few minutes ago. If you don't mind me asking sir, please is there any hope of resumption this month or anytime soon?

*Osun state commissioner for education responded* ;

Thank you for providing me a usable place. I am not directly in charge of Tertiary Education which is under an S.A to the Governor.

However the answer to your question is Yes, it is possible even within a month. It requires the strong determination of students to prevail on their lecturers to be considerate of the lives of the students and be realistic in their demands.

Nigeria is broke and none of us can expect to continue to earn beyond the level of our individual and collective productivity. He said!

In view of the above, what do you decipher ? Do you think we are resuming very soon? Will July be a month of breakthrough ? And finally, do you think the presence of the Osun state commissioner for education in oyo state has anything to do with LAUTECH ? Your guess is as good as mine.

*Good morning dearest colleague*

And kudos to the two students that engaged the Osun state commissioner for education intellectually yesterday. Bravo.....
