All New Airtel Nigeria unlimited data plans-All you need to know

It is no gainsaying that every unlimited data plan is indeed limited in some regard. I mean, even in developed countries of the world, we have few data plans that are absolutely limited. Some fair usage policies always apply. The limits placed on the so called unlimited plans are always evident in the speed after you cross the allocated data threshold. Enough of the preamble. Airtel Nigeria unlimited data plan is following the footsteps of the existing ones in the country. The major difference is that airtel unlimited plans offer a more attractive price.
Airtel Nigeria Unlimited Data Plans like most other unlimited plans are specifically designed for heavy data activities like downloading, streaming and sharing with friends and family.
Experience the freedom of Unlimited Data by purchasing any of the Unlimited Data Plans and a Router or Mifi and at any Airtel Shop.  If in your own case, you surf light then this is not for you. However, if you like streaming videos and downloading huge files, then you can read along with me.

Airtel Nigeria Unlimited data plans, who can use it?

Firstly, every registered airtel subscriber with an internet enabled device can use the unlimited plan. Contrary to some beliefs, this unlimited plan is not an exclusive package of Airtel mifi users. Neither is it restricted only to those Airtel subscribers who have 4g LTE network. In a nut shell, as long as you have a phone, modem, mifi or any internet ready devices, you are good to go.

However, I will personally suggest that you go get a 4g Sim card from the nearest airtel office if you happen to be in any of the cities where there is airtel 4g LTE network.

Airtel nigeria offers 3 packages on their unlimited subscriptions. Let me illustrate thsi with the help of a table extracted from their official website.

Airtel Nigeria unlimited 10 has a data cap of 40gb for 30days validity charged at #10,000

Fair usage policy for Airtel Nigeria unlimited 15 is 65gb for 30days at #15,000

Finally, you will enjoy 100gb for 30days at #20,000 when you opt for Airtel Nigeria unlimited 20

NOTE: If you buy the airtel unlimited 20 plan, you are eligible to receive 1 Airtel mifi mobile broadband free

HOW LIMITED IS THE AIRTEL NIGERIA UNLIMITED PLANS
Firstly, The limitations placed on this plan (like most others) is in its inability to continue at the burstable speed after the fair usage policy data allowance is exceeded. simplifying this, you will get the maximum speed until you exceed the data cap. Explaining this further, if you buy airtel 20, you will get the maximum speeds until you use more than 100gb after which the speed will reduce to 256kps. Of course, that is still a reasonable speed.

Furthermore, it is unlimited in the sense that within your 30 days validity period, you will not be disconnected. I mean, you will be able to browse all through your validity period. It now depends on you if you want to enjoy the maximum speed all through the validity period or not. As for me, I can consume 100gb within 3 days if I have the opportunity. At the same time, I am managing 20gb within a month currently because I do not have the means to go higher for now.

How does Airtel Nigeria unlimited plan compare to other unlimited plans in Nigeria?

It goes without saying that Airtel currently offers the cheapest. To start with, spectranet offers their least unlimited plan for #18,000, Smile Nigeria has it for #19,800. Ntel used to be the best and cheapest but that is no longer the case. As for Ntel Nigeria, they now throttle your speed after certain usage Ntel throttles the speed arbitrarily. Ntel  plan is #10,000 per month and it is tagged uncapped(however, you suffer slow after a while speed without notice). Swift offer their unlimited with a burstable speed of 512kps for #30,000 per month. From the foregoing, it is obvious that Airtel has a relatively affordable price when you compare them to others.
