You just need to know them and be ready to give the required effort and commitment to making them work for you. Jumia Travel, the leading online travel agency, shares 6 tips to earn some more money on the side.

Consulting/Coaching

If you have a specific skill-set with adequate knowledge and experience, you can leverage on it and build a lucrative side business on consulting/coaching that’s quite easy and affordable to start. It can involve giving advice to a start-ups on how to build their public image, assisting start-ups with social media marketing and SEO work etc. The best part of this business is that you can build it to fit your schedule and free time.

Freelance Work

This is another flexible side business that doesn’t need long-term commitments. You can also adapt this kind of business to fit your schedule and free time. Becoming a freelancer can involve writing content for businesses, doing content marketing for start-ups and doing design work for businesses, which can include graphic designs, web designs, logo designs etc. It really depends on your talent, skill-set and interests. The best part of this is that there is a reasonably high demand for freelancers especially in the area of content marketing, social media marketing and design work.

Leverage On Your Vehicle

If you have a vehicle, you can cash in on it by registering with Uber or Taxify or both. The best part about this is that you can keep your keys by becoming a driver on the platform or hire someone to drive the car on the platform for you.

However, when considering this option as a means to making some extra money, you should be sure that you are satisfied with the rate of depreciation of your car (because it will definitely be higher). You also have to consider the cost of financing the car and other maintenance costs.

Produce Crafts

If you’re good with your hands, are creative and love to create crafts and design work, you can use the talent to create jewelry, clothing, furniture or accessories, and can sell them to make some decent money on the side. The advent of social media has made marketing your craft work and designs much easier, as you can take advantage of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and online shopping platforms like Jumia mall, to put your work out there and get it sold.

Photography

If you have good photography skills, you can purchase a camera and start doing photography jobs on the side. Photography is now big business, if you know how to exploit it, and you can start a very decent side business from it. However, in the photography business, it is best to carve a niche for yourself. Don’t be a jack-of-all-trades and master of none, you are unlikely to get positive recognition and referrals that way. You can specialize in weddings, capturing landscapes, taking fashion pictures etc. You can also sell some of your pictures to sites like Shutterstock.

Modeling or Voice-Over Work

Modeling is not all about having the perfect body and walking on the runway, there are different aspects of modeling. You can be a body model, hand model, leg model or even a face model, and earn some decent money from it. If you are really good at it, there is a chance that you get more recognition, and even attain a kind of ‘celebrity status’ from it, which of course means more money for you.

For the voice-over work, if you have a voice that’s great for voice-overs and you have some broadcast experience, you can earn some extra money by doing voice-over work for ad agencies, broadcasting houses etc

Here's what you're doing wrong cleaning your teeth!

Yes a lot of people brush daily but are they brushing the right way?

Did you know that when brushing the toothbrush should be at 45 degree angle? This places it (toothbrush) along the gum line ensuring the teeth are well brushed and the gum is protected.
For some people, this dental routine is just one quickly done and gotten over with in about 5 seconds whereas a dental survey reveals at least two minutes (honestly how many people do that?) should be spent brushing properly using gentle movements to protect the delicate gum and the gumlines, the crown and the teeth as well as the entire mouth.
Brushingplay
Brushing should be done correctly for at least 2 mins in the morning
So against brushing in a few seconds and dashing out to face the day, spend at least two minutes in the morning giving a proper brush to your delicate teeth.
Ensure to brush your teeth at least twice daily with toothbrush with soft bristles and ones with shape and size that fits your mouth perfect and comfortably. Also make sure to change/replace your toothbrush often.
Using hard brush 'injures' the gum and eventually damages it and when you don't change your brush often you're leaving the mouth open to infections apart from the brush not performing optimaly.
Brushingplay
When brushing the toothbrush should be at 45 degree angle

When brushing, use short back and forth strokes on the outer surfaces as well as the inner surfaces of the teeth as well as the chewing surfaces to get rid of food stuck on these areas. This helps make sure that food don't stay on the teeth and eventually cause them to decay/erode the enamel.
Use vertical upward and downward brushing strokes to get rid of food in-between the teeth for thorough cleaning.
So instead of 'quickie brushing' go through the different areas of the teeth and brush as should be done. For thorough dental health, make sure to floss daily to remove any food remaining and get rid of bacteria!

Road to lautech full resumption by lautech mouth piece

LAUTECH TO FULL RESUMPTION

STAGE 1 :
University resumption

STAGE 2 :
Opening of portal & online registration

STAGE 3 :
Release of promised fund by the government into LAUTECH kitty and disbursement

Stage 4 :
Council meeting with the union executives for negotiation

STAGE 5 :
Unions congress & congressional decision either for strike suspension or continuity

STAGE 6 :
Resumption of academic activities.

Gradually, we are getting there. And we shall get there. Amen. At this juncture, your prayer is very important. Why? Because no amount of vituperation or confrontation would yield positive result. The two governors are just too powerful to do anything they like. They have nothing to lose.

Today, i was surprised when a top personality very close to the two governments revealed some things to me especially on the media war campaign against government. He also made me to realize the effort of the council to keep the school running. However, this may be part of the reason the council had to announced resumption date to make the governors hasten up with their promise. Though, some criticized the purported announcement but unknown to them that LAUTECH issue requires brilliant tactics especially when dealing with the constituted & incapacitated authority.

It would interest you to know that these two governors have nothing to lose. In Fact, they don't mind if the school is closed down for more than 3 years. No matter the level of students frustration, they are less concerned and stone hearted. Hence, it's imperative to continue to pray to God to soften their heart.

Meanwhile, the ray of Hope on the release of the promised fund still intact. The council is really working tirelessly on this to ensure the money get to LAUTECH kitty this week. The students should therefore throw away the panic and keep the hope alive.

But after payment of six months salary arrears, what next ? What of Sustainability of the University ? What of funding of the University ? Who's responsible for funding of a public University like LAUTECH? Oyo or Osun state Governments, or poor students ? This make me thinking. I hope the council will do the needful on this to ensure academic stability.

Six months is not the issue but continuity of payment of salary and sustainable funding of the University are the main issue. On this note, we appeal to the two governors to be more responsive and show adequate commitment to proper funding.

While we keep praying for total restoration, we also seize the opportunity to inform you that the portal is now open for course registration.
