Innocent Dad Spent 17 Years In Jail For A Crime Committed By His Look-alike Namesake (Photos)

An Innocent dad, Richard Jones spent 17 years in a US jail for an armed robbery carried out by a lookalike who shared the same name with him. Richard from Kansas City, Kansas, who was locked up for a crime he did not do has been set free after cops found his lookalike.
Jones had been jailed for armed robbery in 1999 after an eyewitness said he was the robber. But during a new hearing into his case this same witness could not tell Jones from a man called Ricky who looks just like him. .
Jones also lived on the other side of Kansas while his lookalike lived where the robbery happened. It also turned out that there was no physical, DNA or fingerprint evidence.
After being released, Jones told the Kansas City Star.: “I don’t believe in luck, I believe I was blessed.” Jones had unsuccessfully appealed his case several times. But two years ago he heard about a man in jail who looked just like him and even shared his first name. .
After realising this could be the man who committed the crime, Jones contacted the Midwest Innocent Project, a non-profit organisation that provides legal services to the wrongly-convicted. An attorney working on Jones’ case said: “We were floored by how much they looked alike. .
Everybody has a doppelgänger, luckily we found his.” Jones is now getting used to life on the outside and says he is happy to be back with his kids He said: “When it comes to my kids, it’s been a rough ride, but they are now at an age where they can understand.”

Checkout the house of the Nigerian Billionaire Kidnapper Onwuamadike Evans Father Living In Abject Poverty

The Father of Billionaire Kidnapper, Chukwudi “Evans” Dumeme Onwuamadike, says helives in abject poverty and he had no idea whatsoever that his son has become so wealthy through illegal means.
He said the last time he saw his son was in 2008 at which time he advised him to desist from illegal means of acquiring wealth.
Identified as Mr. Stephen Onwuamadike, Evans father revealed to newsmen that it was Evans’ mother who misled him and that he has been manipulating evans since he was three years old.
He also said he used to be very wealthy but Evans’ mother led to his downfall and she left him with nothing. His current wife and her son also accused Evans’ mother of being the person behind Evans’ predicament. They painted Evans as a good and loving son who was only under the influence of his mother.
Pleading with the Federal Government to forgive Evans, Mr Stephen Onwuamadike told New Telegraph that he has not been able to sleep since he received the phone call informing him that his son has been apprehended.

He said: “My son is a good boy, but his mother misled him.”
Stephen said Evans’ real name is Chukwudumeje. He alleged that Evans is being spiritually manipulated by his ex-wife.
He said:
“I was devastated when I heard the news through a telephone call; since that call, I had not been able to sleep. I believe in a straight forward and honest life. If I noticed someone is not honest, I run away from the person. When my business was thriving, I did business with white people. I was one of the early millionaires that emerged from this town until things went wrong courtesy of my first wife in 1985. She caused me so many problems and eventually caused my financial ruins. In fact, she brought me down to where I am today. I’m suffering and I can barely put food on my table.”
Stephen who lives in his country home at Akammili, Umudim, Nnewi, Anambra State, said that he tried his best to raise Evans by sending him to the best schools around.
“My estranged wife kept interfering in his academics. You won’t believe that my son, Chukwudumeje (Evans) has not visited home since 2008. The last time I saw him was 10 years ago. I asked him the sort of business he was into. He said he was into drug trafficking. I advised him to desist because it was an illicit business and the law was against it. I told him plainly that it was better to be involved in a legitimate business and wait for God’s blessings. I did good business and it thrived; I was very successful. I have travelled to so many countries of the world in the course of my business,” Stephen said.
He added:
“His mother started manipulating him when he was only three years old; look at where it has got him. I don’t even have his phone number. I’m pleading with the Nigerian authorities to have mercy on him and give him a second chance. He was misdirected and misled by his mother. I heard about all the millions, and I said to myself, do I have such manner of rich son and the roof over my house is leaking. I now survive by selling pigs.”
Evans’ stepbrother, Chidolie Onwuamadike, said his brother’s ruin was caused by his mother. He noted that if Evans had followed their father’s advice, he wouldn’t have become a criminal.
Chidolie said:
“As brothers, we don’t even interact at all. I don’t have his number and my heart is pained because he is such a loving, nice guy from the little I know of him.”
A tearful Mrs Etty Onwuamadike, Evans’ mother said:
“Chukwudumeje is a nice boy when he lived with me. The only gift I gave him years back was the Holy Bible. I don’t want my son to die. I’m still convinced he will serve God.”

JAMB Orders Over 60,000 Candidates To Rewrite UMTE Over Malpractice

At least 62,140 candidates will have to re-write university admission examinations as theJoint Examination and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has delisted computer-based centres (CBT) from board examination as a result of technical deficiencies, extortion, organised examination malpractice and other infractions.
The board also suspended 24 centres for one year due to technical issues. It said the affected centres may be considered for 2019 exams.
The rescheduled exams will hold on July 1.
The registrar of JAMB, Ishaq Oloyede, said these at a press briefing after the board’s management meeting in Abuja on Wednesday.
The 62,140 cancelled results include of 57,646 candidates in centres-induced malpractice, 3,811 late registration, and 683 candidates who had biometric challenges.
The board also cancelled the results of another 2,052 individual candidates found culpable of examination malpractice.
Mr. Oloyede said the management meeting had approved the “delisting of forty-eight (48) centres from participating in the board’s examination in future as a result of serious technical deficiencies, extortion, organised examination malpractice and other damaging infractions”.
He explained that the rescheduled examination was for candidates of centres with mass malpractice but who were deemed innocent.
“The rescheduling of examination is for: biometric non verification machine related issues, technical and log out issues, late registration, malfunctioning of servers at the centre and incomplete results,” he said.

Finally, Scientists turn hydrogen into a metal after 80 years (Photo)

After a long wait of nearly 80 years, engineers have finally succeeded in converting hydrogen into metal. In 1935, scientists predicted that the simplest element, hydrogen, could also become metallic under pressure, and they calculated that it would take 25 GigaPascals to force this transition (each Gigapascal is about 10,000 atmospheres of pressure).
This, however, remained a theory until last year when engineers finally reached capacity to create 380 GigaPascals of force. Now, using that force a pair of Harvard researchers has upped the pressure quite a bit more, and they have finally made hydrogen into a metal.
Researchers behind the new work, Ranga Dias and Isaac Silvera in the process also realized that the force required was humongous. “Diamond failure,” they note, “is the principal limitation for achieving the required pressures to observe SMH,” where SMH means “solid metallic hydrogen” rather than “shaking my head.”
The team came up with some ideas about what might be causing the diamonds to fail and corrected them. One possibility was surface defects, so they etched all diamonds down by five microns to eliminate these. Another problem may be that hydrogen under pressure could be forced into the diamond itself, weakening it. So they cooled the hydrogen to slow diffusion and added material to the anvil that absorbed free hydrogen. Shining lasers through the diamond seemed to trigger failures, so they switched to other sources of light to probe the sample.
After a lot of cranking and experimentation, Dias and Silvera found that somewhere between 465 and 495 GigaPascals, the sample turned reflective, a key feature of metals. Both the authors said that thought it looked like metal they had no way of telling whether the metallic substance is a solid or liquid.

Their studies on turning hydrogen into metal is going to open new vistas for scientists and engineers world over and perhaps bring us closer to the alchemists ultimate dream, converting pure gold from water.

Google Drive Will Soon Back Up Your Entire Computer

Google is turning Drive into a much more robust backup tool. Soon, instead of files having to live inside of the Drive folder, Google will be able to monitor and backup files inside of any folder you point it to. That can include your desktop, your entire documents folder, or other more specific locations.
The backup feature will come out later this month, on June 28th, in the form of a new app called Backup and Sync. It sounds like the Backup and Sync app will replace both the standard Google Drive app and the Google Photos Backup app, at least in some cases. Google is recommending that regular consumers download the new app once it’s out, but it says that business users should stick with the existing Drive app for now.
It’s not clear exactly how much you’ll be able to do with the expanded backup feature. You’ll presumably be able to open and edit some common file types within Drive, as you’ve already been able to. But it’s not clear if you’ll be able to sync those files back down to multiple other computers, using Drive as an intermediary.
All of those files will very likely count toward your Google Drive storage limit, too. This will be a very quick way of hitting that 15 GB cap on free accounts. Still, it’s a smart move by Google and a pretty handy feature. There have been requests for Dropbox to add something like this for ages, and it’s yet to get around to it. Instead, like Drive, people have always had to store files directly in the app’s local folder. For anyone looking for a bit more flexibility in their syncing apps, Google seems like it’s about to become the winning option.

Checkout the Notorious Billionaire Kidnapper, Evans Using Expensive Phones Worth N5.8M (See Photo)

Billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudi Dumeme Onuamadike aka Evans, did not only go for rich victims, he also lived and operated in a class of his own. He was able to dodge the police dragnet for many years because he had the penchant for using luxury phones. A police source told New Telegraph yesterday that investigators had discovered, among Evans’ array of expensive phones, two Slim Vertu phones and a Thuraya.

The first Vertu phone is said to worth N2.6 million, while the second is valued at N2.4 million. The Thuraya is also said to worth N800,000. According to the source, the Vertu and Thuraya phones made it impossible for the security agents to track him.

Thuraya in particular uses satellite services. Another police source said that investigators had traced additional 36 phone lines to Evans, after earlier narrowing down to 126.

This brings the suspect’s phone lines, which he used for operation, to 162. It was learnt that it took experts days before they could decode the workings of the suspect’s phones. But of all his lines, Evans, according to the source, had a dedicated line, which he used to call four persons said to be close to his heart.

They are his friend, sister, mother and favourite mistress, Amaka. Amaka was the wife of one of Evans’ lieutenants. Another suspect, Nwosu Chikodi Chukwuma aka Skudo, told investigators that Evans murdered Amaka’s husband and turned the woman to his mistress.

But when Evans was asked, he denied the allegation. Although he had four mistresses, Amaka, who already had children for her late husband, was the only mistress he calls on the dedicated phone line. Evans told police that the Thuraya phone was his preferred phone for usage during negotiations for ransom.

Detectives revealed that the phone is the type used by the leader of Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau and other terrorists to evade tracking and arrest. A police source: “The Thuraya phone can’t be tracked. It can get signal anywhere, either under the sea or in the jungle. It works with satellite and it doesn’t make use of SIM card.”

On Wednesday, the New Telegraph went Evans’ family home in Nnewi, Anabra State, where his mother, Mrs. Chinwe Onwuamadike, was said to be living. But her brother, Daniel Nwosu, claimed he did not know her whereabouts.

But yesterday, a police source disclosed that they tracked Chinwe to Bayelsa State.

The source noted that the woman bolted to Bayelsa State after hearing about the arrest of her son. As police continue to dig out Evans’ criminal activities, they have discovered that his wife, also from Anambra State, is a sister to a kidnap kingpin, who had been killed. It was learnt that rocket launchers were found in the said kidnapper’s home while Anambra State government also demolished his building.

The officer in charge of the Inspector General of Police Special Response Team (IRT), Mr. Abba Kyari, who led in the hunt and arrest of Evans, said: “Evans almost got away with his crimes. No criminal has given me this kind of headache in my career.

Not even the case of Godogodo or Vampire. I hardly sleep. Even when I’m in the toilet, I would be analysing over 100 numbers, checking out those he had conversations with. What we have gathered is like a book now.

“But the case was a hard nut to crack until we found something interesting in one particular number. Out of the all the phone lines, it was the only number that he was using to communicate with family members in Nnewi. We followed up on that and he was nailed.”

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni, before Evans’ arrest, had placed a N30 million bounty on him.

According to him, the bounty placement was made on behalf of the IG, Ibrahim Idris. “We are encouraging Nigerians to blow the whistle on this kidnapper. Whoever blows the whistle that will lead to his arrest will get a N30 million reward, as stated by the Inspector- General of Police, Ibrahim Idris,” the commissioner had said.

Yesterday, the New Telegraph made moves to find out the person who will collect the bounty since Evans had been arrested. But the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), CSP Jimoh Moshood, denied knowledge of the bounty.

He asked: “Where did you see that? I’m not aware of that announcement.” Pressed further, the FPRO said: “You need to find out which IG did that. I’m not aware; it is not to my knowledge.” Vertu New Signature Touch, according to c/net is the latest luxury device from British brand Vertu.

The 5.2-inch phone, it states, separates itself from the pack with a whopping price tag, which starts at £6,500, about $10,000 or equivalent of about N3.7 million.

“The New Signature Touch makes use of luxury materials like Titanium in its body, it’s hand-wrapped in your choice of calf, lizard or alligator skin and its screen is made from a solid lump of super-strong 130-carat sapphire.

“It’s not just about the design either as this phone is well-stocked with tech. Inside you will find an octa-core processor, the display has a full HD resolution and there’s a 21-megapixel, 4K-capable camera too. Mix in Vertu’s included concierge service, which lets you summon a lackey to do your bidding, and you’ve got yourself one hell of a phone,” it adds.

Moji Olaiya: Doctors Explain Late Nollywood Actress Cause Of Death

The family of the late Nollywood actress, Moji Olaiya, on Monday, released a statement indicating that the autopsy conducted on her remains showed that she died of a ‘natural medical cause’.

In a statement by Moji’s brother , Femi Olaiya, the family dismissed rumours that the late actress was poisoned in Canada where she was delivered of a baby girl in Feburary.

However, doctors, who spoke with our Journalists on Monday, said that the autopsy report suggested that the late mother of two must have died of a traceable and demonstrable medical cause.

A medical consultant with the Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Dr. Adeoye Oyewole said, “Someone is said to have died of a ‘ medical cause’ when there is a traceable and demonstrable medical pathology that is related to the death. The term ‘natural medical cause’ is not medical.

“For instance, if the person had suffered a heart or cardiovascular event just before he/she died, that is a traceable medical cause. If the person also had an underlying medical condition like an enlarged heart but an event triggered a shock to the system to have caused the death, it is also a medical cause.”

A cardiologist with the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, Dr. Afolabi Akinkunmi, corroborated Oyewole’s
views, saying there was always a medical cause to every death; and an autopsy was usually carried out to establish the exact or underlying cause of the individual’s death.

Akinkunmi said, “There is always a medical cause for every natural death. If you have any doubt, then the autopsy report is conducted and the coroner will state it on the death certificate.”

Another expert. Dr. Babajide Saheed, noted that a person who suffered a sudden cardiac arrest or a condition that shuts down the brain or nervous system in a short time is said to have died of a natural cause.

Saheed said, “There is always a medical pathology to every natural death. So a natural death means that there is nothing you could have done to help the individual, such as if the person experienced a sudden cardiac arrest and died even before getting to the hospital.

“If a person that has a terminal disease such as leukemia dies, it is a natural death because there is nothing you could have done for the patient. These are natural deaths with a traceable medical pathology.”

The actress died on May 18 in Canada and her remains were interred at the Ebony Vaults, Ikoyi Cemetery, on Wednesday.

LAUTECH Parents meeting Update

UPDATE ON LAUTECH PARENT MEETING AT GRAMMAR SCHOOL

As an eyewitness, the event captured a large turn out of parents with lot of exhaustive deliberation aiming at providing temporary and permanent solution.

Several ideas were raised but amongst the touching one is the suggestion of a naked protest being raised by an old woman and ready to go on street anytime for the sake of her children liberation. She therefore received a thunderous slap with maximum support for her submission.

Another suggestion was raised again suggesting an audience with the two governors through a letter. But as much as some people were able to welcome the idea, countless numbers kicked against it in an open voices that none of them would honor the letter because countless had already been sent without response.

After lot of deliberation, a progressive way forward was reached;

1. That letter should be written for an audience and if no response come forth within 7 days, actions should set forth.
2. That an attempt should be made for another meeting in other areas like osun, oyo, ogun, etc
3. That a press conference should be organized by next-week
4. That radio stations like Ajilete and parrot fm should be visited today for announcement.

Meanwhile the idea of fund LAUTECH initiative was highly welcome with large number of people supporting the initiative except some few people with concern on its long sustainability and how to make their contribution in ogbomoso since fidelity bank is not in the town or near by.

However, there was a response that a solution would be made within two weeks.

Log on to parrot FM at 5pm for an exclusive interview by the parents representatives and as well monitor Ajilete FM today !

Bugatti Wants To Bring Us It’s First Saloon Car Soon (photo)

Due to the success of the Chiron, Bugatti have been thinking of releasing a first saloon car model.

With similar headlight pattern, aerodynamic lines in the car’s profile that help with cooling the large mid-mounted 8.0-litre quad-turbo W16 engine of the Chiron and other features of the Galibier Concept Sedan that IndavDesign has imagined has a good starting point.

Speaking of which, the Chiron’s engine will probably be retained on the production-spec luxury sedan, but it will likely be reduced from the current 1,500PS (1,479hp) and 1,600Nm (1,180lb-ft) of torque.

The hyper saloon isn’t the only knockout plan, the vision of a third model with an electric powertrain, is top on the list of Bugatti’s future agenda.

Huge Fire Breaks Out In 24-storey London Tower

A block of flats in London is on fire, with people reportedly trapped inside.

Forty fire engines and 200 firefighters are battling the blaze at the Lancaster West Estate tower block, a 24-storey building in Latimer Road in White City.

The Metropolitan police were called to the apartment building at 1.15am on Wednesday, and officers and the London Ambulance Service have joined London Fire Brigade at the scene. An evacuation process is underway.

Police said two people were being treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, but reports from the scene suggest people are trapped inside their homes. More than 200 people live in the block.

Nick Paget-Brown, the leader of the Kensington and Chelsea council, has spoken on Sky News UK, saying that he was working to establish how many people were in the tower block at the time of the fire.

“Several hundred would have been in there. It’s a question of establishing how many were in there at the time of the fire.”

He said emergency centres had been set up nearby to accommodate people who had been evacuated from their homes. “We’re providing as much support as we can ... it’s quite hard to get accurate and up-to-date information but the council will be doing all that it can to work with residents who have been evacuated.”

Paget-Brown said he had not spoken to residents who had been evacuated, but said were some being treated by emergency services.

“I think at the moment the main priority is to make the building safe and ensure that residents we can evacuate are evacuated.”

He said he did not know whether people were trapped within the building: “That’s a matter for the emergency services.”

Paget-Brown had toured the building last May following a multi-million-dollar refurbishment. “I’m really not in any position to answer any questions about the structure. ... Clearly there’s a lot more work to do to actually evacuate the building and to establish how safe it is.

“This is a very, very, very severe fire.”

He said the tower block was inspected at the time of its renovation last year. “We will have to await the studies as to what the source of this has been.”

Cristiano Ronaldo Accused Of Tax Evasion

Spanish prosecutors have accused the Real Madrid footballer Cristiano Ronaldo of defrauding the authorities of millions of euros in tax.
The prosecutor's office in Madrid says it has filed a lawsuit against the Portuguese player.
He is accused of evading tax of 14.7m euros (£13m; $16m) from 2011 to 2014.

The world's highest-paid sports star had previously said he was not worried about tax investigations as he had nothing to hide.

On this occasion he is accused of knowingly using a "business structure" to hide income made from his image rights.

In December, leaked documents suggested that Ronaldo had avoided tax on income allegedly held in offshore accounts.

He denied the allegations.
When asked about that investigation, he told a journalist from Radio Television Portuguesa (RTP) "Quien no debe no teme", which roughly translates as "He who has nothing to hide has no fear."

Ronaldo is the world's highest-paid sportsperson for the second successive year, according to Forbes' annual list of the world's wealthiest people.
He earned $93m (£72.05m) from salary, bonuses and endorsements last year.

AY And Freda Francis’ Whatsapp Chat: Raunchy Version, Why Mabel Makun Was Angry

Yesterday Fans Of Comedian AY Makun woke up to see it Viral on the Internet that his wife Mabel had called out Oasis Medspa Boss Freda Francis to stay away from her Family....
A photo snapped at Freda's baby shower allegedly sparked off the call out and the Internet has been agog with the call out and edited chat posted by Mabel and fingers have been pointed at the comedian as being responsible for Freda's preggy.

My Sources say Freda's baby daddy is not AY but Delta born American Based Man named Alex who is not finding it funny with the news trailing his unborn child.

Insiders also confirm that Freda and AY have been besties since forever and it is the love they had for each other that made AY introduce his wife Mabel to become Freda's friend and everything has been OK.

''Stella,The Chat message is not recent, probably in January or so and Mabel is aware of it but because she had a little misunderstanding with her hubby and could not control her temper, she has now caused more damage than she imagined because everyone is shocked with her outburst yesterday and have been telling her,if you have a problem with your man,why use the Internet and why call out someone who has been like a sister to you..She did not snoop and found that chat,he was not hiding his phone,Mabel knows AY and Freda are very close friends..I don't know why she did this but they will settle.''

Friends of the couple and Freda's are still brain storming how to handle this and I hear Alibaba's wife Mary, visited Mabel to counsel her and Mabel's neighbours Tiwa and Annie Macaulay. and Naomi Adenuga visited her to talk some sense into her....

I pray they all settle amicably in Jesus name..

Read the Undoctored chat ..More like waffy kinda chatting..lol

Man Kills His 18-Month-Old Daughter In Makurdi, "A Voice Told Him She's A Witch"

32-year-old man, identified as Robinson Omeje was charged in a Makurdi Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday for allegedly killing his 18-month-old daughter, Esther Robinson.

The plea of the defendant was not taken, as he claimed a voice pronounced her a witch and directed him to kill her but the court lacked the jurisdiction to entertain the matter.

The Magistrate, Mrs Theresa Wergba, ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the case until August 2, 2017

The prosecutor, Inspector Adole Oluwa, told the court that the case was reported at the ‘E’ Police Division, Makurdi, by one Doom Robinson of New Street, Joseph Catholic Church, Akpehe Makurdi, on May 18, 2017.

He then said that the accused wife had reportedly returned from her shop and found her daughter’s lifeless body inside a plastic bucket.

In addition, he explained that during police investigation, the accused person was arrested, and he confessed to having strangled the girl to death when a voice told him that she was a witch.

According to the prosecutor, the investigation into the matter was still in progress and prayed the court for an adjournment, adding that the offence contravened Section 222 of the Penal Code Law of Benue State, 2004.

10 Countries With The Highest Number Of Universities In The World

India leads! Now interestingly, most of these countries have lesser populations than Nigeria e.g Argentina, France, Japan e.t.c so you may wonder who fill these universities up. Well it is Nigerians like you and I who take badly needed forex to study in these universities especially the UK. The Nigeria of the future must own enough quality private universities to serve our people and neighbouring countries. We must also begin to believe in our universities and contribute to its success at our various alma mater. We also must build universities that would serve our development in the Sciences and not just degree mills. Some few years ago it was recorded that Nigerians spent 1.5 trillion naira on education tourism and we would continually waste such money until we focus on making our universities top notch and quantitatively enough.

SHOCKING: Aisha Buhari didn't see her husband when she visited UK.

The President's Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari who also frequents London to take care of himself, is still the manipulator-in-chief, according to the sources. Furthermore, SaharaReporters learned that Mr. Buhari has not spoken to Acting President Yemi Osinbajo for several weeks following his departure from Abuja for a second round of medical treatment for an undisclosed medical condition suspected to be cancer. The sources gave the example of Wednesday last week when members of Buhari's cabal called the Acting President and asked him to await a call from the ailing President, pointing out that no such call was received except one that was just a few seconds of hellos before the person hung up the phone. SaharaReporters also learned that the public declaration by Orji Uzor Kalu, a former Governor of Abia State, that he met Buhari in London is a complete fabrication as Buhari did not at any time receive the Mr. Kalu, who recently decamped to the president’s All Progressives Congress party. One particular presidency source told SaharaReporters they suspect Kalu was using that gimmick to intimidate the judge who is trying him for corruption, considering that he wore a turban to court a few days later. Our sources confirmed that Buhari is incommunicado, and is only reached by two aides, Tunde Saburi and Sarki Abba, who have maintained stoic silence about his condition. It is notable that when Mrs. Buhari returned from her recent trip, she sent messages to her family members in Adamawa claiming her husband was recovering fast but asked for intensification of prayers. The cabal reportedly reduced access to Buhari in an effort to control information leaks to the public. They cabal reportedly as far as forging Buhari's signature so as to give the impression that he is still in control even after Buhari himself had handed over power to his vice, trying to create the impression that he is still in charge. Mr. Kyari is said to be in charge of all the behind-the-scene moves. It was he, they claimed, who a few days ago passed a fake document to Garba Shehu, one of Buhari's spokespersons, claiming that Buhari had given Osinbajo the go-ahead to sign the 2017 budget. According to their account, Osinabjo had already decided on the date he would sign the budget, a decision that was delayed only by a last-minute discussion to include some projects such as the Lagos-Apapa Port road repairs. They said they were not surprised at Mr. Shehu's fake statement claiming Buhari sent a letter granting the Acting President the right to sign the budget. Buhari is said to be rather unaware of his environment, his memory somewhat affected. For instance, on his way to the UK, he was said to have asked if he was on his way to Sokoto. Our sources said that the cabal working with Buhari might bring him back the same way he was returned in February, in a scheme to use his presence to perpetrate more fraud and control power.

There Are Many Things Wrong With Evans' Story

Suspected kidnap kingpin Chukwudi Dumeme Onuamadike popularly known as Evans was arrested on Saturday, June 10, 2017. After years of being on the run, the long arm of the law finally caught him. The details surrounding his operation have left a few questions. One of the things we know is this- Evans was paid $1M each as ransom by four people. Another thing we know is that he owned mansions in Magodo » area of Lagos. That's money going in and money going out. Even if he was paid in cash, he would have had to change the money somewhere. You don't just change $1M on the streets of Lagos without someone raising an alarm to the police. If the ransom money was paid into his accounts then it is likely there is a huge conspiracy going on. This brings us to the law enforcement officials. As part of anti-money laundering policies, any transaction above N5,000,000 is meant to be reported to the Financial Intelligence Unit. Evans obviously received way above this amount. Why didn't anyone in the bank or banks he used, raise a red flag and report to the authorities? Behind every criminal mastermind is a support system of accomplices. Evans is just the face of the criminal network. My suspicion is he is the most disposable person in the system and that's why he has been paraded. EFCC officials go after Yahoo boys who receive lesser amounts of money. Isn't is suspicious that EFCC officials did nothing about Evans until he was caught by police officers? There are too many gaps in this story. Obviously, Evans was running on very great intel for him to kidnap people whose families could afford to cough up $1m. It's hard to look at a man and his properties and figure he has that kind of money to release at a moment's notice. That kind of financial detail is only accessible to bank managers. Why hasn't the Nigerian Police Force arrested bank managers involved in this kidnapping ring? There is no way some bank managers were not involved in this racket. With the transfer of funds, bank managers had to be aware that something fishy was going on. Why didn't they report to the authorities? Kudos, to the undercover cops he caught the kidnap kingpin. The Nigerian Police Force has had a bad rep for years but when they do good we should praise them. Now that Evans has been caught, the NPF should embrace the culture of full disclosure and reveal the other members of the kidnapping syndicate. Anything less would be a farce.

Top Twenty Inventors Killed by Their Inventions

There’s something ingrained in humans that cause us to take dangerous risks and try things that might change the world. Over the course of civilization, thousands upon thousands of inventions succeeded beyond their creator’s wildest dream. But some were epic fails. Here’s a look at the top twenty inventors who were killed by their own inventions.
20. Thomas Andrews was the chief naval architect for the R.M.S. Titanic and it was his honor to accompany the ship on its maiden voyage. Andrews was aware of the Titanic’s vulnerability in ice-laden waters and originally called for the Titanic to be double-hulled and equipped with forty-six lifeboats, instead of the twenty it actually carried. He was overruled due to cost constraints. When the Titanic struck the iceberg on April 15, 1912, Andrews heroically helped many people into the lifeboats. He was last seen in the first-class smoking lounge, weeping. His body was never recovered.
19. William Bullock invented the first modern printing press. While installing a machine for the Philadelphia Public Ledger, Bullock tried to kick a belt onto a pulley and got his leg crushed in the moving mechanism. He quickly developed gangrene and his leg needed amputating. During his surgery on April 12, 1867, Bullock died of complications.
18. Francis Edgar Stanley invented the photographic dry plate which he sold to George Eastman of Eastman-Kodak fame. With the profits, he founded the Stanley Motor Carriage Company and developed a line of steam-powered automobiles called Stanley Steemers. On July 13, 1918, Francis Stanley was testing one of his Steemers and swerved to miss some farm animals. He plowed into a wood pile and died.
17. Jean-Francoise Pilatre de Rozier was a French chemistry and physics teacher as well as being the true father of aviation. He made the first hot air balloon flight in 1783. He was also the first to experiment with hydrogen as a propellant, testing it by taking a mouthful and blowing it across an open flame. After losing his hair and eyebrows, he dismissed hydrogen as being too volatile — something the makers of the Hindenburg would later confirm. On July 15, 1785, de Rozier attempted to cross the English Channel in his balloon. It crashed, killing de Rozier and his passenger.
16. Louis Slotin was an American nuclear physicist who worked on the Manhatten Project. After the war, Slotin continued to experiment with plutonium and accidently set off a fission reaction which released a hard burst of radiation. Realizing what he’d done, Slotin heroically covered the material with his body while the others made a run for the hills. He died on May 30, 1946, two weeks after the exposure.
15. Karel Soucek was a Czechoslovakian daredevil and inventor. He built a specially-designed, shock-proof barrel and repeatedly flowed over Niagara Falls. To top this feat, Soucek invented a new capsule which was dropped from the roof of the Houston Astrodome on January 20, 1985. It missed its target, which was a small water container, and Soucek was killed on impact. World-renown stuntman, Evel Knievel, tried to talk Soucek out of it, saying “It was the most dangerous thing I’ve ever seen.”
14. Sylvester H. Roper invented the world’s first motorcycle. He called it a velocipede and it was actually a converted bicycle powered by a steam engine. On June 01, 1896, Roper was testing the machine on a bicycle racing track and was lapping the pedal-powered two-wheelers at over forty mph. Suddenly, he wiped out and died. The autopsy showed the cause of death to be a heart attack, but it’s not known if the attack caused the crash or if the crash caused the attack. He was seventy-two.
13. Horace Lawson Hunley invented the submarine. His first prototype trapped seven sailors underwater and killed them all. Hunley went back to the drawing board and came up with a new and improved sub, aptly named the H.L. Hunley, which he skippered himself. On October 15, 1863, Hunley was testing the Hunley off the coast of Charleston, South Carolina, when it failed to surface and again killed the crew — including Hunley himself.

12. Aurel Vlaicu
was a Romanian inventor and test pilot of his own line of aircraft, called the Vlaicu WR I, II, and III. He achieved many notable firsts such as the highest, longest, and fastest flights. On Friday, September 13, 1913, Vlaicu’s luck ran out when he attempted the highest altitude flight ever — crossing the peaks of the Carpathian Mountains. The cause of the crash was never determined.
11. Valerian Abakovsky invented the Aerocar, also known as the Aerowagon, which was a steam-powered, propeller-driven rail car intended to whisk railway executives quickly across the vast lands of Siberia. On July 24, 1921, the twenty-five-year-old Abakovsky was whirling a group of twenty-two big-shots from Tula to Moscow when he approached a curve at over eighty mph. His Aerocar went airborne and killed six, including the inventor.
10. Marie Curie was a Polish chemist/physicist who pioneered research into radioactivity and won the Nobel Prize — twice. Besides proposing the theory of radiation and discovering two elements, she is credited with inventing radiography or X-rays. Curie died on July 14, 1934, in a French sanatorium from aplastic anemia due to long-term exposure to radiation, probably from her habit of carrying test-tubes of plutonium in her pockets.
9. James Fuller “Jim” Fixx didn’t exactly invent running but he popularized it through his mega-bestselling book Complete Book Of Running. Fixx took up the sport after a lifetime of stress and bad habits. He became a world celebrity on fitness and healthy living. On the morning of July 20, 1984, he was out for his daily running fix and fell dead in his tracks on Route 15 in Hardwick, Vermont. His official cause of death was a fulminant heart attack. The autopsy showed his heart arteries were 70% blocked in the right anterior descending, 80% blocked in the left anterior descending, and 95% blocked in the circumflex. Runner Jim Fixx was fifty-two.
8. Max Valier was an Austrian rocket scientist who invented solid and liquid fueled missiles. Given his success with flight, Valier thought it’d be cool to make a rocket-propelled car. It worked, too, and he got it up to 250 mph. Trying to get even better, Valier experimented with alcohol as a combustible. That got away on him and blew up on his workbench, killing Valier and burning his workshop down.
7. Alexander Bogdanov was a Russian physician, writer, politician, and inventor of sorts. He was a major player in the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution and ended up in jail. He talked his way out of death row and back into medicine where he became obsessed with blood. Bogdanov founded the Institute For Haematology and was convinced that blood transfusion was the ticket to the fountain of youth. To back up his beliefs, he used himself as a crash-test dummy and transfused blood from a patient suffering malaria and tuberculosis into his own system. He died two days later on April 07, 1928, but the patient slowly got better. It seems that the blood types were incompatible — something little known in the day.
6. Otto Lilienthal was known as The Glider King. A German pioneer in aviation, Lilienthal made over 2,000 glider flights and is credited with perfecting the gull-wing design and set the long-held record of soaring to 1820 feet. On August 10, 1896, Lilienthal experimented with “shifting weight” in a glider at fifty feet. It lost lift, stalled, and he augered into the ground, breaking his neck.
5. Li Si died in 208 BC at age seventy-two of The Five Pains. That was a form of torture or “punishments” involving tattooing the face, cutting off the nose, cutting off the feet, castration, and finally death by exposure. Li Si was Prime Minister during China’s Qin Dynasty and fell out of favor with the Emperor. It should be noted Li Si invented The Five Pains.
4. Henry Smolinski held a degree in aeronautical engineering from the Northrup Institute Of Technology. Old Hank got the idea that a flying car was necessary so he bastardized the boxed-wing rear section of a Cessna 337 Skymaster and welded it onto the top of a ‘71 Ford Pinto. He actually got the thing to fly. On September 11, 1973, Hank took his buddy, Harold Blake, up for a spin in the Pinto. At around three hundred feet, one of the wings snapped and the pony-car bucked them off to a fiery death.
3. Abu Nasr Ismail ibn Hammad a-Jawhari died around 1008 AD at Nishapur which is in today’s Iraq. He was a Muslim cleric, scholar, and a bit of an inventor. He was fascinated with flight so he built a pair of feather-covered, wooden wings and strapped them to his back and arms. To impress the Iman, Mr. a-Jawhari jumped off the roof of the mosque hoping they’d work. They didn’t, but to commemorate the first known attempt at human flight, they built a mosaic mural on the wall of the mosque. It’s actually quite pretty.
2. Wan-Hu may or may not have been real. Some say he was apocryphal, or doubtful, but one thing’s for sure — he’s a legend. Wan-Hu was reported to be a 16th-century Chinese official who tried to shoot himself to the moon by attaching forty-seven rockets to a chair and lighting them all at once. They say there was this huge bang and, when the smoke cleared, Wan-Hu and his chair were nowhere to be found. Today, there’s acrater on the moon named after Wan-Hu... and I’m not making this up.
1. Franz Reichelt was real — a real stupid sonofabitch if there ever was one. He was known as The Flying Tailor and is credited with inventing the coat parachute. To prove it worked, he conned the keepers of the Eifel Tower to let him demonstrate. On February 04, 1912, Franz held a major press venue so they could witness his inaugural jump. He leaped from the first deck and gravity took over. It was captured on film and today you can watch this moron splat himself on YouTube.
