Robot Sophia: Meet The First Robot In History To Become A Citizen Of A Country - Science/Technology

Sophia is the first robot in history to be granted robot citizenship of a country, the robot who became a citizen of Saudi Arabia hardly a week ago has taken robotics one step closer to being infused into our daily lives.

Sophia was created by Hanson Robotics and she’s truly one of a kind, the focus area is currently on her intelligence. The other parts of her body such as her legs and hands (though her hands work pretty well already) have not been fully developed, but all that will be looked into with subsequent upgrades.

Kemi Adeosun To Nigerian Ladies In USA: Don't Work Too Hard, Go To Club Have Fun

Nigerian minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, advising Nigerian babes here in the United States to balance work and play. Don't work too hard, she said. Hit the club when you can.Prelude to the amazing article underway. We're going back to her life in London, the pain of seeing her parents rent one tiny apartment in London till retirement, the challenges of working with civil servants, why she brought the whistleblowers policy, how sometimes she feels frustrated and how kids of kings and Presidents studying here may fail at home. It was an interesting talk, although she did not want to talk to the only person who was about to tell her story to the world.

Introducing The 2017 Lamborghini Terzo Millennio (photos)

One year ago, Automobili Lamborghini started a collaboration with the MIT - Massachusetts Institute of Technology - to pioneer the future of sports cars and rewrite the rules.

Today, an important step forward has been made in this regard: Lamborghini has just unveiled “Terzo Millennio” at EmTech MIT Conference, a new design concept about the future of the super sports cars. The prototype is on display for EmTech MIT attendees and the MIT community.

This visionary concept physically imagines design and technology of tomorrow through a possible future Lamborghini electric super sports car, which aims to deliver the most emotional and ultimate driving experience.

To plan its path, Automobili Lamborghini defines the requirements of the third millennium in terms of energy storage and innovative materials, aiming to lead them to a radical innovation in collaboration with two laboratories of the MIT: the “Dinca Research Lab”, led by Prof. Mircea Dinca, Department of Chemistry, and the “Mechanosynthesis Group”, led by Prof. Anastasios John Hart, Department of Mechanical Engineering.

In addition to the energy storage systems and the innovative materials for the vehicle’s body, Lamborghini also aims to address the future of the super sports cars in the powertrain and vehicle architecture, in the sound and emotion, while sustaining the visual appeal and the breathtaking performance.

It is about creating new concepts to shape the future of sports cars, facing what is impossible today to shape the reality of tomorrow. This design concept sets the path to realize this vision and marks the first step towards a future electric super sports car.

Lamborghini Terzo Millennio is radical in the energy management and in the body and extreme in the architecture and design, in line with both Lamborghini culture and a third millennium which requires new concepts, innovative solutions and the adoption of electrified powertrains.

81 Students Bag First Class At Bowen University, Iwo – VC - Education

Iwo (Osun) – The Bowen University, Iwo, Osun, on
Saturday awarded first class degrees to 81
graduating students at its 12th convocation.

The institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mattews Ojo,
stated this while delivering his convocation speech at
the university’s premises in Iwo.

Ojo said 96 graduating students were awarded with
second class upper degrees, 382 with second class
lower degrees, while 136 were awarded with third
class degrees.

He added that 15 were awarded with MBBS Degrees
and 29 awarded with Master Degrees.
Ojo urged the graduating students to be focused and
to be good ambassadors of the university wherever
they found themselves.

‘‘Equally important, do not dwell anymore on the
grades attained in the courses in the university but
focus your attention on the knowledge gained, skills
acquired and character that has been moulded.
‘‘No doubt, Bowen University has prepared you for
leadership. Indeed, our nations, at this time, needs
people like you that will make a positive difference,’’
Ojo said.
Earlier, the Chancellor of the university, Dr Olumide
Kehinde, urged the new graduates to create new
opportunities for themselves through self-
employment.

Also, the Pro-Chancello of the university, Mr Oluwole
Abegunde, urged the new graduates to be focused
and be agents of positive change in the society.
In his remarks, Gov. Rauf Aregbesola, represented by
his deputy, Mrs Titi Laoye-Tomori, urged private
universities to engage in research and development,
saying these were critical intellectual needs for
society’s growth.
In his exhortation, the President, Christian
Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Baptist Convention,
Rev. Samson Ayokunle, urged the new graduates to
empower themselves to make them relevant in the
country.

Meanwhile, the Chairman, Federal Civil Service
Commission, Mrs Joan Ayo, said that the Federal
Character Principle, if properly implemented, would
ensure effective service delivery in the country.
Ayo said this while delivering the 12th Convocation
Lecture of the university with the theme:
“Governance, Service Delivery and Development in
Nigeria since Independence.’’
“It is my firm conviction that if properly implemented,
the principle will ensure authentic development in
Nigeria.

“It will douse the numerous agitations that,
unfortunately, we are accustomed to. It will remove
the cliché of marginalisation, reduce the tension in
the country and promote peace,” she said.
Ayo, however, debunked insinuations that the Federal
Character Principle sacrifices meritocracy for
mediocrity in order to accommodate everybody in the
country.

‘‘In practice, Federal Character Principle ensures
picking out the best from each Local Government or
Senatorial District or Zone, as applicable.’’ she said.

Miss Nigeria Is Not Allowed To Have A Boyfriend And Here’s Why

Expectedly, beauty queens are not permitted to be in a relationship during their reign. Most of them claim they abide by that rule, including the current Miss Nigeria, Chioma Obiadi.

When Saturday Beats asked the young beauty queen how she has been able to cope with that, she said it was just a protective measure put in place for her to stay away from scandals and other “unnecessary things.”

She said, “One needs to be protected against scandals. Some of these scandals come from people who you are close to and trust. It is just a protective clause to help me to be better.”

According to her, it will be hard to keep a relationship as she has been overwhelmed with both her school’s activities and her role as Miss Nigeria. But then, the pretty girl said the clause has not hindered guys from stalking her.

She added, “I have stalkers. Every girl has a stalker, but I feel God has given us a way to handle it without hurting anyone. I was not even in a relationship before becoming Miss Nigeria. I have been jostling between school and Miss Nigeria, so I barely have time.

“The way I handle men now is pretty much the same way I handled men before I won the pageant. I have been a girl all through my life and I feel all girls get pressure from men. Like I said earlier, the organisation is very protective. So, they have in a way protected me from unnecessary exposure. If they feel an exposure is not good for me, they don’t let me experience it.”

She, however, admitted that winning Miss Nigeria was her turning point, as her life became better and her ideas became bigger than they used to be.

“The lowest point is learning how to be patient, especially with the environmental battle I’ve embarked on. It is very tough. We had a beach cleanup two weeks ago and before we finished cleaning up half of it, the other part which was already cleaned up had been messed up again. That was very frustrating, so it takes patience and passion for one to actually keep doing that.”

The beauty queen said she intends to complete her education once she is through with her reign.

“I don’t believe in starting up something when you are not ready for it. I believe you have to lay your bed properly before you lie on it. I have a couple of business ideas, but I have yet to make up my mind. I don’t feel bad that the spotlight will be off from me soon. I wish I could still hold on to it because once you’ve eaten sugar, you don’t want to stop. But don’t forget that if you keep eating sugar, you will get diabetes.

I think I have had my own share and I have gathered things I can tap from to become whoever I want to be. The wise thing for me is to grow and become a greater person. I am just looking forward to handing over to the next Miss Nigeria.”

Already the search for the next Miss Nigeria has begun and the organizers told Saturday Beats that even though the event was rested for about 20 years, it is here to stay.
