Here are the things you
don't know about medical school
Medical
school is not a school of fun but you try to catch fun.
It is a school where you have voluminous texts to
go over e.g. Clinical Oriented Anatomy by Keith L. Moore and physiology text
produced by Guyton. They are indeed what you have to sit for hours to checkout
to be able to pass. Despite this, you still find a way to catch fun. Medical
student have fun by playing football, clubbing once in a while, novel reading, etc. Some go as far as partaking in school politics a typical example is Proffessor Aminu Jubril who is one of the best "MBBS" student produced by University of Ibadan, Nigeria, and still a very renown politician, but, while having this fun, caution is
taken not to forget your purpose on medical school because:
(1)You
become intimidated
Well
you might be a two hours reader but on getting to a medical school you see your
classmate reading for 15 hours, indeed that's an intimidation you won't want to condole. Advise usually given to students is that they should always know their best time of understanding as this
will help them throughout their program.
(2)Scary
encounter with the CADAVER
When
this is one of the encounters that you would not escape in any medical school
because of the vital knowledge of anatomical study. Dissection classes are
class where you cut open dead people to see those things you read in the textbook.
Some student slump some time on seeing this but trust me with time you adjust.
(3)Exams Phobia
The
most challenging time in a medical school is exam times because of the
voluminous things you have to revise of which you might not have time to do.
The "MBBS" examination is indeed a challenging period because of the oral
exams that always accompany it. An exam where a medical student is sitted in
front of various colleges professors and subjected to various questioning before they can pass to the next class. Especially, clinical oral exams are paramount
because without it you can't move to the next class.
(4)Too
much expectation from every where
Everyone
who knows you as a doctor-to-be gives you respect which is accompanied by expectations. Even your patient gives you additional respect and your family
tends to support you the more because they know you a good investment that will
yield a lot in the future.
(5)Maintaining good
relationship with opposite sex.
If
you are the type that find it difficult to talk to ladies, you can bet with me that that's what medical school will teach you. Because most of your mate is ladies
and even your lecturer is sometimes female of which you have to learn to relate
with then to pass.
(6)No
Mr. know all in a medical school
No
matter how brilliant you are, you will have to relate with others to pass an
exam excellently because no matter how much you know, you will still find more you don't know. Well
medical school is indeed a school to be. You really want to be a medical doctor, then get into one medical school and feel the awesome experience.
