ANOTHER 25% SUBVENTIONS IN LAUTECH KITTY
LAUTECH received 25% subventions on July 11, 2017, from the oyo state government. The 25% subventions is the money oyo state government is giving to all tertiary institutions in the state.
But one may wonder if such amount is the money the oyo state government intend to be giving to LAUTEH as monthly subvention for the whole six months. The practice is that Oyo pays between January to June while osun complement the payment between July to December.
It's on record that both states gives the institution 292 million every month to augment salary. But now that Oyo state government is coming up with a modality of 25% subventions against the initial expectation, one may also wonder how the state intend to tackle the issue of poor funding. But as a matter of fact, we need to appreciate the little effort of the oyo state government unlike the Mr incapacitated authority of Osun state who just conceded defeat to the opposition party due to the lack of thought and commitment towards education in the state.
It should be noted that the 25% subventions being paid by the oyo state government do not hold water at all to reserve some token in the school account after which a deduction of N74 million must have been made instantly the money is paid to the school account. How ? The school is expected to refund back the N400M loan borrowed during February to pay salary.
Anyway, the recent appeal to ASUU is an attestation that governments are becoming more serious to the ongoing crises. In Fact, that would ever be the first time the government will appeal to the striking workers unlike the usual pride and egoism. As it seems, they are beginning to feel the heat through electoral processing and the power of PVC to unseat any incumbent governor.
If a politician could have said that he prefer his child to die than not winning his election, then it tells that politicians can go any length to win themselves votes. So, ladokites should be rest assured that APC defeat in Osun state would inject or push resumption very soon unless the two governors want all their candidates to lose gallantly come 2019.
They must know that no one ever toy with LAUTECH and go Scot free. Take For instance, AKALA lost in 2011 to AJIMOBI due to the increase in school fees. But now, it is Osun west senatorial bye election against the anointed candidate of Mr incapacitated authority who have no or little concern over the LAUTECH students who have been in same level since 2015.
LAUTECH students of Osun west senatorial district did not only go home to mobilize for votes in the recently concluded election but ensured that APC lose the election through prayer and massive support for the opposition. This is not because they believe PDP is holier than thou but to embarrass the governor who failed to do the needful. I just wish the government's agent can a carry out a survey to know the number of LAUTECH students we have in both states.
To this end, I sincerely advise every one of us to keep our PVC intact because it remain the only weapon to fight against oppressors. Our job is only 10% done, Osun gubernatorial 2018 and Oyo 2019 still loading. LAUTECH must not die !
