Lautech Road to resumption by Apagunpote Olayimika

*LAUTECH: THE ROAD TO RESUMPTION*

*By: Apagunpote Olayimika Chocomilo*

Dear folks;

It was a personal decision and intentional. I purposely took a sabbatical leave on LAUTECH's issue and I tender my unreserved apology to ladokities who see my silence on the recent face-off between the #fundLAUTECH team and the Alumni especially how some "senior ladokities" siphoned the Alumni treasury and the celebration of show of shame as a sin. The long stay at home is already a burden issue and the inclusion of the celebration of show of shame is not needful but I promise to write on it later after resumption. Now that we have both agreed that "LAUTECH is an "epitome of fund diversion and elements of money diversion reside in it"; shall we proceed to the main issue which is the "road to resumption"? Let us have a look at yesterday's conclusions and my amateur stand.

The Governing Council of LAUTECH met with the representatives of Oyo and Osun state house of assemblies inside LAUTECH teaching hospital; Isale-Osun, Osogbo. These representatives are Hon. Olatunji from Oyo State House of Assembly and Hon. Bamisaye from Osun State House of Assembly. They discussed extensively on LAUTECH issue and they have not only reassured but restored our hope that the closed gates of our dear institution would be reopened in weeks time as both house would meet with visitors of this institution soonest.

The Governing Council of LAUTECH also met with officials of both government and alumni of this institution and those present are Hon. Afeez Bolaji Repete (Oyo State SA on youths and sport), Osun State Commissioner for Science and Technology, Special Adviser on Health related matters to Osun State Government and Hon. Olatunji(member, Oyo state House of assembly). Together with the National  President of LAUTECH Alumni Body, Mr. Bewaji held a meeting with the governing council to receive situation reports to abreast and relay to their bosses. After the meeting, they (officials of both government and the national alumni president of LAUTECH Alumni) concluded to pay a visit to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Chancellor of this institution next week Tuesday.

It is pertinent to note that the KPMG report is expected to be submitted on Friday and the content of the report is still unknown to the public. If both governors agree to pay the sum of 1 billion naira each to settle some outstanding debts and KPMG report recommends reduction of staffs, increase in tuition fees and IGR; would member unions allow resumption to define itself?

If KPMG report recommends payment of all outstanding debts, would both visitors pay to allow resumption to define itself? If KPMG report recommended reduction of staffs before both visitors pay a dime into coffers of LAUTECH, would member unions accept such recommendation?

If KPMG report recommends that after clearing of debts, government should reduce staffs and increase tuition fee and subventions should be stopped gradually; would member unions of LAUTECH accept such recommendation?

If KPMG report recommends that both visitors should clear debts, tuition fee increased astronomically and no staff would be sacked; would member unions accept such recommendation?

Both visitors are clamouring for stoppage of subvention due to paucity of funds. Member unions are agitating for proper funding of the institution through subvention without increase in tuition fees but as things are moving; won't students who wasted two years at home ended up paying increased tuition fee to pay staffs they fought for? Will member unions accept reduction of staffs or half pay? Will visitors look for loan to settle debts? Or there is an account somewhere with 10billion naira to solve LAUTECH issue.

Truly, the road to resumption has been established but the path is convincing and I'm afraid if LAUTECH would be able to face the challenges ahead and give a proper definition to resumption.

Folks, the road has been established but it seems rough, tricky and slippery.

I'm weeping for my dear LAUTECH but I have deep assurances that LAUTECH shall rise again and all these shall become a story of the past
